On average, retail accounts for 10% of the workforce whatever the economic circumstances and, even in this challenging trading environment, it is likely to remain the largest private sector employer for the forseeable future.
The Retail Apprenticeship is designed to provide apprentices with the knowledge, skills and understanding you require to carry out your job role and to support your future progression within the sector. Intermediate Level apprentices will train as Sales Assistants, Customer Service Assistants and Stockroom Assistants as well as more specialist roles such as Beauty Consultants. The course covers areas such as helping customers to choose products, dealing with customer queries, processing payments in a range of retail environments. Units also cover handling stock and deliveries, receiving, storing, and picking stock for the sales floor.
